Many women experience premenstrual syndrome (PMS) to some degree. The symptoms are often mild, and can include abdominal and back pain, headaches, bloating, acne, weight gain, depression, irritability and anxiety. Up to 10% of women suffer from premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), a more severe form of PMS that can disrupt their lives and cause significant psychological symptoms.
