Description
Alpha-Stim® AID is an FDA cleared and NHS approved handheld medical device that is proven safe and effective for the treatment of anxiety, insomnia, and depression.
Alpha-Stim uses cranial electrotherapy stimulation (CES) to deliver a patented waveform via two earclip electrodes. Treatments typically take 20 minutes and can be done in the comfort of your own home while doing normal, everyday activities. While we suggest daily treatments until you have a noticeable decrease in symptoms, they can be done 2-3 times a week for maintenance or as needed. The safety and effectiveness of Alpha-Stim is backed by over 100 independent clinical research studies.
How Alpha-Stim works
Pain, mood conditions (like anxiety and depression), and insomnia are all controlled by your body’s central nervous system. The billions of individual cells that comprise the nervous system communicate every sensation by conducting electrochemical signals between the cells in your body and brain.
The Alpha-Stim electrotherapy device works by transmitting a unique, patented electrical waveform to modulate the cells’ signals to return to baseline, normal functioning—significantly reducing pain, anxiety, depression, or insomnia without medication.
With Alpha-Stim, many people experience significant relief after a single treatment. With continued use, the effects of the Alpha-Stim electrotherapy device can be even greater, increasing cumulatively over time as cell function becomes more readily modulated.
Patented Alpha-Stim waveform
Alpha-Stim generates a unique and patented waveform like no other device. The highly refined and rigorously tested waveform in our electrotherapy device uses microcurrents (millionths of an ampere), which are:
- Transmitted into the brain in a precise configuration via earclip electrodes for the AID device (which treats anxiety, depression, and insomnia)
- Also delivered via electrodes placed on the body at the pain site for the M device (to treat pain)
What to expect
While the Alpha-Stim AID is significantly effective when it is used correctly for 9 out of 10 people who use it, it will not work for everyone. Most people can use it at bedtime and when awakened during the night. However, some people find they must conduct their 20 – 60-minute Alpha-Stim treatment at least 3 hours before going to bed because treatment may interfere with sleep. It may also be used in the morning to promote better sleeping at night.
Following treatment, there are usually no physical limitations imposed so most users can resume normal activities immediately. Some users may have a response that may affect their ability to perform potentially hazardous tasks, such as operating a motor vehicle or heavy machinery for up to several hours after treatment.
At present, there are over 150 research studies on using Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation in humans and more than 30 animal studies. In new trials conducted by the NHS, it has been found that the mild electric currents delivered by Alpha-Stim AID can relax people who have suffered from anxiety for years, according to The Sunday Times. Conducted in Leicestershire using Alpha-Stim’s Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation (CES), patients in the trial used the device for six and 12 weeks.
- After 12 weeks, 72% of patients achieved remission whilst 63% of those in the trial saw an improvement in their anxiety symptoms.
- After 24 weeks, 77% of the patients had achieved remission.
No significant lasting side effects have been reported. Occasional headache, discomfort or skin irritation under the electrodes or light-headedness may occur. If a heavy feeling occurs, continue treatment until at least 2 minutes after it gives way to a light feeling. These are all mild, self-limiting reactions.
