Yes, it worked, with just a few ‘Beeps’ and a little ‘vibration’

Linked to our coverage of wellbeing for the entire family circle including pets, we recently tried out an anti-bark dog training collar with a one-year-old female Beagle. We were in the situation of spontaneous barking behaviour occurring from the sound of the doorbell, lawn mower, vacuum cleaner and anything else deemed concerning to her. We made the assumption this was more an anxiety response from her and likely causing a sharp rise in her normal heart rate. It could equally be said this also caused some stress in the family household and surrounding neighbourhood, a situation not good for all in the long run!
Perhaps like many others, we were concerned with the principle of an anti-barking collar device that delivers electric shocks or has sharp spiky prongs on our family dog’s neck. This was where an important box was happily ticked for us. On ‘barking’ the CE certified device simply ‘beeps’ and ‘vibrates’ for a few seconds at a time. Hopefully this would act as a learning tool and her need to bark following a trigger noise would be minimal, coinciding with a calmer response to the noise disturbance.
On quick arrival of our excitedly purchased collar device, we busily checked it out along with the simple to follow user guide. The collar device is weatherproof and the neck strap was fully adjustable to her neck size, which we easily set for a comfortable loose fitting and, should also fit most dogs over 3.5Kg. After setting the collar device sensitivity level fairly relative to her bark pitch (see manual) we proceeded for a first try outside in the garden with the petrol lawnmower being started up and pushed around. This normally received a good constant ear bashing for us and our neighbours to hear.
After running up to it as always and barking once we heard the collar beep for less than a couple of seconds and she just back tracked a little to ponder where this distraction sound came from. A second bark at the mower resulted in her going off into the background and she then simply watched the lawnmower from a short distance away. It was a Wow factor moment that it had been that simple and we gave her a well done treat and affection for being so good. After that it was excitedly off to test out the vacuum cleaner. Again, a similar reaction with her sitting on the sofa and settling down watching nearby which of course was followed again with another well-done treat. This was amazing success all round for all and on completion we happily took the collar off as it was only for training sessions for us, although it does say to wear no longer than 12 hours. With the next repeat cycle run of these ‘trigger’ events the collar was initially triggered once but the collar has since not been needed for mowing or vacuuming. The doorbell ringing was harder to plan for but she soon caught on with a little more frequency of training.
In conclusion, normal day-to-day triggers for our Beagle’s ‘barking’ behaviour no longer seem to create a noticeable concern for us or the health and wellbeing of our lovely Beagle. At a review time price of £25.95 and rated outstanding on Trustpilot from 230+ reviews, this was well worth the money for quick results and calmer benefits to all.
